Postural training in Finale Ligure, calm and gradual

If your back is stiff, often hurts or you have a herniated disc, moving can feel scary. Here we start again slowly: first we listen to you, then we build a path that fits you, step by step.

What is postural training?

It's slow, controlled exercise that helps your body find its balance again. No jumping, no heavy loads: simple exercises, repeated with care, which only become more demanding when your body is ready.

  • Focus on the spine. Exercises to become aware of how you hold your back and to work on its alignment.

  • Stretching. Targeted exercises for areas that tend to stiffen, such as the neck, shoulders, back and hips.

  • Core strengthening. We work on the deep muscles that support your spine in everyday movements.

Who it's for

  • People whose back feels stiff or "locked" after long hours sitting or standing
  • People with recurring back pain who want to move safely
  • People who have finished a course of physiotherapy and want an activity to carry on with
  • People who want to get back in shape gradually after an injury
  • People living with a herniated disc, after checking with their doctor where appropriate

Postural training is suitable for everyone: you don't need to be fit to start. Not sure if it's right for you? Call us: we'll talk it over first, with no rush.

If you'd rather not start in a group, postural work is also available in private sessions, with the same gradual approach and the same care.

How we build your programme

  1. We talk.

You tell us your story: where you feel discomfort, for how long, what your doctor or physiotherapist has told you, what you'd like to get back to doing.

  2. We check with your doctor, if needed.

With a herniated disc, acute pain or other conditions, we ask for your doctor's go-ahead and follow their advice or that of your physiotherapist.

  3. We start slowly.

Small-group classes with exercises chosen for you. Every movement is explained and, if needed, modified.

  4. We review it together.

From time to time we check how you're doing and adapt the work: more challenging if things are going well, lighter if something doesn't feel right.

Postural training FAQs

I have a herniated disc. Can I join?

Postural training is also designed for people living with a herniated disc, but we talk about it first. You tell us about your situation and, where appropriate, we ask you to check with your doctor. The programme is built on their advice, with gradual, controlled exercises. If your doctor advises against exercise for now, we wait.

Do I need a medical certificate?

Yes: to attend, you need a medical certificate for non-competitive sport (certificato medico non agonistico), as for all Body Zone activities. If you have a diagnosed condition, for example a herniated disc, we also ask you to check with your doctor before you start, and we follow their advice.

How is this different from physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a healthcare treatment, provided by a healthcare professional, for a specific problem. Postural training at Body Zone is exercise: it helps you keep moving regularly, for example after physiotherapy or alongside it, always following the advice you've been given.

Will my back pain go away?

We can't promise that: every back has its own story. What we can do is help you move more and better, with safe, gradual exercises, and follow you closely. If the pain changes or gets worse, we recommend seeing your doctor.

How often should I come?

We decide together based on how you feel, your commitments and the class days. A little, regularly, is better than a lot, now and then.
